I'm sure alot of you have already seen the "help Joe" posts on many blogs over the past week. I checked it out Saturday night and did not donate at that point. I went back today to see how it's going and had to add my donation.
It's amazing to see so many people kicking a man when he's down. Not everyone gets insurance handed to them on a silver platter and for self-employed individuals (like me) it's hard to pay the high bills for medical insurance. I'm not sure what Joe's situation is, but I wouldn't wish that on the devil.
Send him your chump change or buy a font from him. Veer will get it to him. A little alot goes a long way. And if you disagree with the situation, keep it to yourself!

I agree that it's really crude to kick a man while he's down. It's great to see the love people are giving back to a talented designer.
For the rest of you who are self employed and aren't insured, several states have plans to help you. I'm on such a plan in Washington State.

If you can't afford to buy yourself health insurance, you can't afford to be self employed. There's no shame in keeping your day job and doing projects on the side until you have enough income to cover the costs of running your own business.

Looks like some good information. People can also join their chamber of commerce which adds some buying power to getting insurance. Checking einsurance.com is another good source. Shop it wisely though.
There's always the situation where you have coverage while being self employed and have to revert back to buying it yourself. Like a spouse switching jobs.
